In 1913, in the heart of Milan, where fashion breathes art and craftsmanship is passed on as heritage, Mario Prada was looking for a different kind of leather.
I wanted to create luggage that was a symbol of luxury and status, but also of endurance.
Pieces capable of withstanding endless travel without losing their shape, shine or elegance.
This research gave birth to Saffiano leather, the result of an innovative and precise technique: engraving a network of crossed lines on the surface of the leather and sealing it with a thin layer of protective wax.
The result?
A material with its own personality. Firm, waterproof, durable and with an unmistakable texture that united industrial precision with handcrafted beauty.
That discovery changed the history of leather.
Prada applied Saffiano to its first trunks and briefcases, and its success was immediate.
For the first time, a material not only embellished an object, but also made it more resistant, more functional and more coherent with the modern idea of luxury.
Expansion of Saffiano leather in Europe and consolidation as a symbol of elegance.
The Milanese technique soon spread to other Italian workshops (Florence, Pisa and Vicenza) and then crossed borders to Spain and France.
Tanneries and craftsmen adopted the method, reinterpreted it and adapted it to their own styles.
Saffiano leather became a shared language. The language of detail, durability and perfect form.
Over the years, this leather has established itself as a symbol of elegance and technique.
Brands such as Furla, Michael Kors, Saint Laurent and Longchamp found in it the expression of the ideal balance between aesthetics and resistance.
And so, what was born in a small workshop in Milan became an international benchmark for functional luxury.
Global Leather Goods and the contemporary Saffiano leather legacy
And now, more than a century later, that essence is still alive.
Global Leather Goods takes that legacy and translates it into its own language.
In our workshops, Italian tradition meets Spanish precision to give shape to pieces that combine technique and sensitivity, technology and craftsmanship.
Each creation is born from a measured balance, from a process where perfection is sought without losing humanity…
Global Leather Goods’ European expansion: French-speaking and Portuguese markets
That same idea, of uniting heritage and purpose, is what drives our expansion.
Today, Global Leather Goods is opening up to the European market, especially the French and Portuguese-speaking markets, with the same determination that moved Mario Prada more than a century ago: to transcend borders with quality, precision and character.
The Saffiano Pack thus becomes a symbol of this new chapter, a collection designed to connect with those who value sobriety, durability and authenticity.
France, Belgium, Switzerland, Luxembourg and Portugal are markets that understand this philosophy.
They are places where elegance is recognized in the details, where design is appreciated for its honesty and where noble materials retain their voice.
There we find a natural affinity: that of those who understand that luxury does not consist in appearing, but in remaining.
Commitment to quality, tradition and sustainable growth
At Global Leather Goods, quality is an attitude.
Every decision, every texture, every finish responds to the same idea: do things right or don’t do them at all.
Our team shares this vision and makes it a habit: work well done remains, for us, the most authentic form of innovation.
After years of learning, perseverance and continuous improvement, we are ready. Not out of ambition, but out of conviction.
Because we understand that true growth is not measured in speed, but in consistency; not in noise, but in legacy.
The Saffiano Pack represents that exact point where tradition becomes impulse and heritage becomes projection.
Our commitment is to continue to create products that stand the test of time, that reflect European know-how and that convey what we really are, a brand that seeks to endure.
We are ready to grow.
Because after years of perfecting every detail, we know that authentic growth only comes when there is structure, team and purpose.
And we have them.
