The soul of B2B<\/b><\/h2>


When everything stopped, what sustained us were the people.<\/span><\/i><\/h3>

I. The calm that heralded the storm<\/span><\/h2>

-It can’t be… it wasn’t even raining.<\/span><\/p>

I said it out loud, looking at the laptop screen. The cameras were calm. Too calm. <\/span><\/p>

-Watch the local TV and see what they are saying now,” I asked my wife. Nothing. Not a headline. Not even an alert. <\/span><\/p>

-On the cameras it looks normal,” she told me.<\/span><\/p>

-It must be in another area,” I replied. But I didn’t quite believe it. <\/span><\/p>

The camera that was focusing our Konica Minolta stopped emitting. Digital silence. <\/span>
<\/span> “Maybe the power went out,” we thought. But that possibility began to ache in our chest. <\/span><\/p>

Has the water arrived?<\/span><\/p>

We are next to the ravine.<\/span>
<\/span> They didn’t say it anywhere, but we knew it. We felt it. <\/span><\/p>

I looked at another camera, this time the alarm camera. Yes, it was working. But… was that moving? Was it water? Inside the ship? <\/span><\/p>

It’s a good thing we put all the goods on pallets<\/span><\/i>I thought. <\/span>And that we disconnected all the equipment.<\/span><\/i><\/p>

But the tension grew. The TV was only repeating the mid-morning forecasts. <\/span>
<\/span> Outside, the reality was already different.<\/span><\/p>

-It’s over. The back door has burst. There’s more than three feet of water in the ship. <\/span>
<\/span> Silence.<\/span>
<\/span> -Oh, my goodness. In the middle of the campaign… with the moving stuff inside, too. <\/span><\/p>

And then, the only thing that mattered was this:<\/span><\/p>

-I’m going to talk to the team. I need to know if everyone is okay. <\/span><\/p>

II. The instant the world stops <\/span><\/h2>

And so, in a breath, nature put us in our place.<\/span>
<\/span> Our ears stopped searching for news.<\/span>
<\/span> Nervous pacing between the balcony and the kitchen ceased.<\/span>
<\/span> The head began to work at a different pace, a higher, more urgent one.<\/span>
<\/span> As if a bull were chasing us down Estafeta Street.<\/span>
<\/span> As if life had sent us an ultimatum.<\/span><\/p>

I called Fran, who is in charge of our factory in Andalusia.<\/span><\/p>

-Get ready. We’re going to pull this off. Trust me. I promise you, we’ll get through this. Exhausted, yes. But like you’ve never seen us before. <\/span><\/p>

These were not textbook words.<\/span>
<\/span> They were anchors. Shelters. Bridges laid. <\/span><\/p>

I called Pedro. Sonia. To Ana, who barely had reception, but sent us pictures of her building with two meters of standing water on the first floor. Lifeless water. Water without a name. Water like a murky mirror that returned a washed-out version of the world. <\/span><\/p>

We do not ask about agendas.<\/span>

A phrase that my father kept repeating to me like a mantra kept coming to my mind:<\/span><\/p>

“First, service. Then, quality. Then, price.”<\/span><\/i><\/p>

I listened to him, wherever he could see us.<\/span>
<\/span> And I prioritized service.<\/span><\/p>

The next day I ordered the immediate purchase of everything necessary to replace the lost material.<\/span>
<\/span> The quantifiable. And the one that cannot be counted. <\/span><\/p>

Without thinking about costs.<\/span>
<\/span> Without calculating margins.<\/span><\/p>

The objective was clear:<\/span>
<\/span> To devote all resources to supplying, as quickly as possible, the entire affected customer portfolio.<\/span><\/p>

Not everyone received their products on schedule before the disaster.<\/span>
<\/span> But many did, and they were stunned. <\/span><\/p>

The gears were working.<\/span>
<\/span> Bego\u00f1a assembled a handling equipment in record time.<\/span>
<\/span> I closed a deal to occupy part of a main supplier’s facilities, where we also had our wire-o production unit.<\/span><\/p>

The days ended as a long-distance race does:<\/span>
<\/span> with the sensation of having traveled a million kilometers…<\/span>
<\/span> without footwear.<\/span>
<\/span> No asphalt.<\/span><\/p>

IV. Two lives at the same time <\/span><\/h2>

While we were raising production, weekends were for another war:<\/span><\/p>

Emptying. To clean. To rebuild. <\/span><\/p>

A friend of mine took a flight from Galicia just to get mud.<\/span>
<\/span> A paddler from Ja\u00e9n helped free the access gates.<\/span>
<\/span> Every gesture was a story.<\/span>
<\/span> Each story, a reason to continue.<\/span><\/p>

We live two lives at the same time:<\/span>
<\/span> That of responding to the year-end campaign.<\/span>
<\/span> And that of healing the disaster in Picanya.<\/span><\/p>

V. When words change weight<\/span><\/h2>

Clients.<\/span>
<\/span> Transformed word.<\/span><\/p>

Those who were not yet accomplices and friends became accomplices and friends.<\/span>
<\/span> And those who already were… gave us the embrace of a brother.<\/span>
<\/span> We were offered offices. Warehouses. Warehouses. Solutions. <\/span><\/p>

Suppliers.<\/span>
<\/span> They did not hesitate to invest capital, means and understanding.<\/span>
<\/span> And also affection. Affection. Presence. <\/span><\/p>

Friends.<\/span>
<\/span> Who got mud on their faces without thinking about it.<\/span><\/p>

Volunteers.<\/span>
<\/span> Because when human beings bring out the best in each other,<\/span>
<\/span> dictionary words fall short.<\/span><\/p>

VI. The soul of B2B <\/span><\/h2>

In these times where everything seems urgent and automated,<\/span>
<\/span> where the customer is an order number and the supplier is an electronic signature…<\/span><\/p>

We experience something different.<\/span><\/p>

We live the soul of B2B.<\/span>
<\/span> An invisible network of affection.<\/span>
<\/span> Solidarity.<\/span>
<\/span> Reliable.<\/span><\/p>

A business network that does not forget that, behind every brand, there are people.<\/span>
<\/span> And that, behind every delivery, there are values.<\/span><\/p>

“And then I understood that sometimes you have to wait for October,<\/span><\/i>
<\/span><\/i> for the fire to arrive,<\/span><\/i>
<\/span><\/i> and burn what is no longer worth,<\/span><\/i>
<\/span><\/i> and be born what we have not yet been.”<\/span><\/i><\/p>

We are already being born again.<\/span><\/p>

VII. The operational response: resilience with structure <\/span><\/h2>

Beyond the emotional impact, the key was to transform the chaos into a plan.<\/span><\/p>

In less than 48 hours, we activated a contingency structure that allowed us to maintain service without a total interruption.<\/span>
<\/span> That’s how we got it:<\/span><\/p>

1. Real-time customer service and management<\/span><\/h3>

A small team took charge of direct communication with clients.<\/span>
<\/span> Its mission: to beat time without losing transparency.<\/span>
<\/span> Each order was managed, rescheduled and explained with surgical precision.<\/span><\/p>

2. Relocated editorial production<\/span><\/h3>

We moved the entire team to a partner facility.<\/span>
<\/span> We knew it. We were already operating there. <\/span>
<\/span> We scaled capacity, maintained standards and met commitments.<\/span><\/p>

3. Double shift in the Wire-O area<\/span><\/h3>

We multiply product output by restructuring shifts.<\/span>
<\/span> Our closing machines operated without pause, adapting to the spiral pitch according to each model.<\/span><\/p>

4. Handling and bindery support<\/span><\/h3>

We activate an exclusive support team.<\/span>
<\/span> Collection, special perforations, assembly…<\/span>
<\/span> We cover every critical need with flexible and efficient solutions.<\/span><\/p>

5. Own independent logistics<\/span><\/h3>

We rented vans for local movements. Our personal vehicles have become essential for moving materials and finished products. <\/span>
<\/span> With the carriers collapsed in the area, we needed autonomy.<\/span>
<\/span> And we got it.<\/span><\/p>

6. All as one: company culture in its purest form<\/span><\/h3>

The team left their desk to go into the warehouse.<\/span>
<\/span> Some were closing boxes, others were answering emails with headphones, others were organizing routes.<\/span>
<\/span> There were no hierarchies.<\/span>
<\/span> Commitment only.<\/span><\/p>

Epilogue<\/span><\/h2>

What seemed like a catastrophe ended up being a declaration of principles.<\/span><\/p>

A company can have good products, good prices, good processes.<\/span>
<\/span> But it does have a courageous team, humane customers and supportive suppliers,<\/span>
