In 1913, in the heart of Milan, where fashion breathes art and craftsmanship is passed on as heritage, Mario Prada was looking for a different kind of leather. <\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

I wanted to create luggage that was a symbol of luxury and status, but also of endurance. <\/span><\/p>

Pieces capable of withstanding endless travel without losing their shape, shine or elegance.<\/span><\/p>

This research gave birth to Saffiano leather, the result of an innovative and precise technique: engraving a network of crossed lines on the surface of the leather and sealing it with a thin layer of protective wax.<\/span><\/p>


<\/span>The result?<\/span>
<\/span>A material with its own personality. Firm, waterproof, durable and with an unmistakable texture that united industrial precision with handcrafted beauty. <\/span><\/p>

That discovery changed the history of leather.<\/span>
<\/span>Prada applied Saffiano to its first trunks and briefcases, and its success was immediate.<\/span>
<\/span>For the first time, a material not only embellished an object, but also made it more resistant, more functional and more coherent with the modern idea of luxury.<\/span><\/p>

Expansion of Saffiano leather in Europe and consolidation as a symbol of elegance.<\/b><\/h2>

The Milanese technique soon spread to other Italian workshops (Florence, Pisa and Vicenza) and then crossed borders to Spain and France.<\/span><\/p>


<\/span>Tanneries and craftsmen adopted the method, reinterpreted it and adapted it to their own styles.<\/span><\/p>

Saffiano leather became a shared language. The language of detail, durability and perfect form. <\/span><\/p>

Over the years, this leather has established itself as a symbol of elegance and technique.<\/span>
<\/span>Brands such as Furla, Michael Kors, Saint Laurent and Longchamp found in it the expression of the ideal balance between aesthetics and resistance.<\/span><\/p>
